DentaQuest Institute Announces New Hires in Massachusetts

The DentaQuest Institute is pleased to welcome Dr. Brian Nový, Cindy Hannon and Dr. Biyi Ogunjimi to its team working on quality improvement strategies. The Institute takes a hands-on approach, working with oral health care professionals to support them in the care they provide to patients by developing and validating science-based protocols and best practices for the dental office.

“Dentistry is undergoing an important transition; today it is less about surgical care to treat diseases and more about using innovations in science to prevent and manage underlying diseases,” said Dr. Rob Compton, executive director of the DentaQuest Institute.  “Brian, Cindy and Biyi have shown their commitment to our mission to improve the oral health of all through disease prevention and management and we look forward to the knowledge and new ideas they will bring to our quality improvement efforts.”

Dr. Brian Nový, DDS, FADI will serve as the Director of Practice Improvement. Nový is an international thought leader in the science of dental caries management and evidence-based dentistry. He will bring his expertise to the Institute by focusing on the quality improvement work underway, the Online Learning Center, and the effort to validate and spread a risk assessment tool nationally through the Caries Management by Risk Assessment (CAMBRA) initiative. Nový currently serves as the chair of the western CAMBRA coalition and Vice President of the Foundation for Worldwide Health. Previously, Nový was an associate professor at Loma Linda University in California and maintained a private dental practice in Southern California.

Cindy Hannon, MSW joins the Institute as the Manager of Quality Improvement.  She  brings a strong background in child and adolescent health promotion to the Institute having served as an Associate Project Director at the National Institute for Children's Health Quality (NICHQ) and managing director at the UCLA/RAND Center for Adolescent Health Promotion. Hannon is returning to the Institute, where she previously oversaw quality improvement initiatives for DentaQuest from 2011 to 2012, which included the expansion of the Early Childhood Caries Initiative. Cindy is a graduate of Providence College and holds a Master of Social Work from Boston College.

Dr. Biyi Ogunjimi, DDS, MPH will provide prevention-focused dental care to patients at the DentaQuest Oral Health Center in Westborough and will serve as a quality improvement consultant for the Institute. Ogunjimi adds a clinical perspective to technical assistance, dental management and quality improvement projects carried out by the Institute.  He practiced for several years as a clinician abroad and in the United States, recently combining clinical practice with grants and programs management at the DentaQuest Foundation. Ogunjimi received his dental training from the University of Lagos, Nigeria and the University of Minnesota. He holds a Master of Public Health in Health Management from Harvard University.
