The DentaQuest Institute Participated in the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) 27th Annual Forum

The DentaQuest Institute team recently returned from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) 27th Annual Forum in Orlando, Florida.  During the Forum, over 5000 attendees from around the world, listened to improvement leaders discuss and debate patient safety, person- and family-centered care, the Triple Aim for populations, all in an effort to improve the healthcare system. The theme of the 27th Forum was "Recharge" – moving from “what’s the matter? to what matters to you?”.  Institute staff representing ECC Management, Dental Caries Management (DCM) and MORE Care networked and harvested ideas to foster medical/dental integration.

On Day 2 of the Forum, the DentaQuest Institute hosted a Special Interest Breakfast. Drs. Sean Boynes and Brian Nový talked about the role of an interprofessional  team in driving oral health, and challenged colleagues from outside dentistry to “put the mouth back in the body.”  Health professionals working in oncology, nursing, and pediatrics came to learn how oral health can be integrated in to all aspects of health care.

IHI is the premier organization in thinking about transforming healthcare. Dr. Don Berwick, President Emeritus and Senior Fellow, ended the exciting 4 day Forum with his keynote address and  reminded the audience that “innovation is not an event or even a product. Innovation is a process”, and the DentaQuest Institute is primed to be a leader in helping others optimize their capacity to deliver efficient and effective healthcare that includes oral health.
