As a Project Manager, Avery’s responsibilities include assisting the AnP team with managing their many research projects through the research and publication process, providing analytical and drafting assistance, and coordinating presentations, lectures, and keynote addresses.
Avery comes to DQI with more than fifteen years of experience; the last four with the State of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Office of Health Services. He has expertise in Medicaid, survey and research methodology, data analysis and recently developed and implemented an internal fraud analysis system for the state. He has presented and published research on LGBT intimate partner violence, HIV/AIDS, and the impact of the Affordable Care Act on state and federal Medicaid policy.
Avery received his BA and MA in Applied Sociology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he developed the first reliable and valid survey to measure intimate partner violence in the LGBT population. He earned a second MA in Critical Studies from the Maryland Institute College of Art where he focused on the contributions of artists to their communities in the wake of the AIDS crisis of the 1980’s. Most recently, he began an MBA at Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, with a focus on Healthcare Administration.
Avery is based in the Columbia, Maryland office.
