On Thursday, August 25, all 15 DCM teams virtually gathered to celebrate and reflect on their successes and highlights during the last 18 months of the DCM Collaborative. From the very start of the collaborative, all teams had one mission in mind: to improve the delivery of oral health care for children and adolescents, focusing on developing and testing a chronic disease management protocol. Faculty and staff were so excited to see how teams have gone towards reaching this aim. Whether it is integrating caries risk assessments into electronic dental records, integrating medical and dental, or educating residents and providers to move away from the surgical model to disease management, teams are moving mountains in order to change care. What’s more, they are connecting their improvement efforts to data, which further illustrates the positive impact being made on patient populations and health outcomes.
Throughout the webinar, the QI team and faculty praised the amazing work and fantastic efforts of all 15 teams. Congratulations again to the DCM participants! Thank you for all of the great work you have done and continue to do for your patients. You are truly pioneers and are setting the standard for improving quality in oral health care.
