Oral Health Nursing Education and Practice (OHNEP) is an organization that helps nurse practitioners, nurse-midwives, nurses, and other health professionals incorporate oral health into clinical education and patient care. OHNEP houses a variety of turnkey toolkits and curriculums related to oral health integration into nursing and other clinical practice. The organization has historically been housed at the NYU College of Nursing.

Apple Tree Dental operates eight centers for dental health in Minnesota, as well as on-site pop-up clinics at 145 Head Start Centers, schools, group homes, senior assisted living programs and long-term care facilities. CareQuest Institute has supported Apple Tree Dental’s participation in the Oral Health Progress and Equity Network since 2016 and broadened the partnership in 2021.

The mission of Pennsylvania Coalition for Oral Health (PCOH) is to improve oral health for all Pennsylvanians by uniting stakeholders to advance advocacy, policy, education and innovative approaches. CareQuest Institute supported PCOH directly with funding in 2020 and 2022 and has also supported PCOH through a Pennsylvania regional Collaborative since 2016. Funding has facilitated work with state departments to incorporate oral health in State Health Improvement Plans and maintain a steady drumbeat for restoration of Adult Dental Benefits in Medicaid, repealed in PA in 2011.

Macon Volunteer Clinic has provided dental services on site since 2003 using donated equipment. With CareQuest Institute funding, Macon Volunteer Clinic will purchase and install a new digital panoramic X-ray machine for the clinic to use on a daily basis for patient care. This will facilitate greater equity for patients, as they would experience the same technological advancement, and logistical experience that any other dental patient in their area would have for x-rays and dental care.

Health Care For All (HCFA) advocates for a more equitable, integrated, accessible and affordable oral health system in Massachusetts. HCFA has been a long-term grantee of CareQuest Institute having been funded since 2004.

The Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) seeks to be the leading voice for Hispanic oral health, providing education, research, advocacy and leadership for all healthcare professionals in order to promote the overall health of Hispanic and Latinx communities.

The Moab Free Health Clinic has been providing dental services since 2021 using donated used dental equipment. With this grant, Moab Free Health clinic will be able to purchase equipment that will increase their efficiency in patient care by expanding their unique patients served by 100.
Equipment to purchase with funding: Handheld X-ray Unit, Dentimax Sensor, 30 Scalers, 30K Ultrasonic tips, Midmark M9D AutoClave Sterilizer, Dentsply Sirona Cavitron Ultrasonic Scaler, Ultrasonic instrument cleaner.

“The US Supreme Court has again issued several decisions that will fundamentally change the ways in which we pursue equity and social justice in this country.

From affirmative action in higher education to student loan forgiveness to LGBTQ+ protections, these recent decisions will have lasting impacts on all of us but particularly for historically marginalized individuals.
